Ürdünlü hacker Rey, Boeing'in eski birimi Jeppesen ForeFlight'ı şantaj ederken gözaltına alındı
Boeing, Rey'in babasının çalıştığı Royal Jordanian Airlines'ın kullandığı uçak filosunu üretiyor.
‘Rey’ kral demek, yani soylu

Police in Jordan arrested a young man in Amman. He uses the hacker name Rey. Police think he led a group called ShinyHunters. The group steals data and blackmails its victims. Reports say he is now working with the FBI.
Rey was arrested while his group was blackmailing a Boeing business. Boeing sold this business, Jeppesen ForeFlight, in November 2025. It went to Thoma Bravo for 10.55 billion dollars. Boeing said it knows about the blackmail attempts. Jeppesen ForeFlight said its work and products had no problems.
There is strong evidence that Rey's father works for Royal Jordanian Airlines. This airline uses planes that Boeing makes. In September, Rey said that he stole data from the FBI. Hours after reporters emailed his father, Rey began deleting his social media accounts. Royal Jordanian Airlines has not answered questions yet.

Jordanian Hacker Arrested After Blackmail Attempt on Former Boeing Unit
A young man from Amman, Jordan, has been arrested. He is suspected of leading ShinyHunters, a group that steals data and blackmails its victims. His hacker name is Rey. He is reportedly working with the FBI to identify other members of the group. According to KrebsOnSecurity, he was arrested while ShinyHunters was blackmailing a business unit that Boeing recently sold.
On 3 October, Reuters reported that a suspected ShinyHunters member had been arrested in Amman. Three unnamed sources gave his name as Saif Al-din Khader. In a profile from November 2025, KrebsOnSecurity had already identified Rey as Khader. In that article, the young man admitted that he worked with several ransomware groups.
Boeing accepted that ShinyHunters had tried to blackmail the unit. The company said that the case was about data stolen from Jeppesen ForeFlight. Boeing sold this subsidiary to the private equity firm Thoma Bravo for $10.55 billion in November 2025. A Boeing spokesperson said that the company was looking into the matter with the Jeppesen ForeFlight team. However, a Jeppesen ForeFlight spokesperson said that the company had seen no impact on its operations or products.
Rey's alleged role is important because there is strong evidence that his father works for Royal Jordanian Airlines. The airline flies passenger planes that Boeing built. Early in 2025, Rey claimed on Telegram that his father was an airline pilot. However, nobody could confirm this independently. Royal Jordanian Airlines has not yet answered the request for comment.

Jordanian Hacker 'Rey' Detained as Group Blackmailed Former Boeing Unit
A young man from Amman, Jordan, has been detained on suspicion of leading ShinyHunters, a group that steals data and blackmails its victims. He is reportedly working with the FBI to identify other members of the group. According to KrebsOnSecurity, the suspect, who uses the hacker name "Rey", was detained while the group was trying to blackmail a business unit that Boeing had recently sold.
On 3 October, Reuters reported that a suspected ShinyHunters member named Saif Al-din Khader had been detained by Jordanian authorities in Amman. The story was based on three unnamed sources, who said he was cooperating with the FBI. KrebsOnSecurity had already identified Rey as Khader in a November 2025 profile, in which the young man admitted working with more than one ransomware group.
Two sources familiar with the investigation said the blackmail victims included a navigation and digital aviation unit that Boeing had recently sold. They said the FBI's investigation had gained new momentum because the group claimed to have stolen sensitive information that could create operational security and safety risks. Boeing acknowledged the blackmail attempts and said they were linked to data stolen from Jeppesen ForeFlight, a subsidiary it sold to the private equity firm Thoma Bravo for $10.55 billion in November 2025. A Jeppesen ForeFlight spokesperson said that, based on the company's investigation, there had been no impact on its operations or products.
Rey's alleged role is notable because there is strong evidence that his father works for Royal Jordanian Airlines. The airline is mostly controlled by the Jordanian government and flies Boeing-built passenger planes on its long-range routes. In early 2025, Rey claimed on Telegram that his father was an airline pilot, but this could not be independently verified. Royal Jordanian Airlines has not yet responded to a request for comment.
Rey was also in the news after Dutch police detained Pepijn van der Stap, a 24-year-old convicted cybercriminal, on 15 September. Soon afterwards, Rey took control of the ShinyHunters brand and publicly claimed that he had stolen sensitive data from the FBI.

Jordanian Hacker 'Rey' Detained While Extorting Boeing's Former Unit Jeppesen ForeFlight
A young man from Amman, Jordan, has been detained on suspicion of leading ShinyHunters, a group that steals data and blackmails its victims, and is reportedly cooperating with the FBI to identify other members. According to KrebsOnSecurity, the suspect, who goes by the hacker alias "Rey", was arrested while ShinyHunters were attempting to extort a business unit that the aerospace company Boeing had recently sold off.
Reuters reported on 3 October, citing three unnamed sources, that a suspected ShinyHunters member in Amman named Saif Al-din Khader had been detained by Jordanian authorities and was working with the FBI. It was in a profile published in November 2025 that KrebsOnSecurity identified Rey as Khader, and in that article the young man admitted to working with more than one ransomware group.
Rey resurfaced in an exclusive report of 28 September on the detention by Dutch police of Pepijn van der Stap, a 24-year-old convicted cybercriminal, on suspicion of data theft and extortion. The report stated that Rey took control of the ShinyHunters brand immediately after the Dutchman was detained on the evening of 15 September. Rey then publicly claimed to have stolen highly sensitive data from the FBI and to be blackmailing the ransomware group Cl0p.
Two sources familiar with the investigation said that a navigation and digital aviation unit that Boeing had recently sold was among the victims ShinyHunters were trying to extort when Rey was caught by Jordanian authorities. In a brief statement, Boeing acknowledged the extortion attempts, saying they related to data stolen from Jeppesen ForeFlight, a subsidiary sold to private equity firm Thoma Bravo for $10.55 billion in November 2025. A Jeppesen ForeFlight spokesperson responded in writing that the company had seen no impact on its operations or products.
What makes Rey's alleged role striking is the strong evidence that Rey's father works for Royal Jordanian Airlines, which is mostly controlled by the Jordanian government and flies Boeing-built jets on its long-haul routes. In early 2025, Rey claimed on Telegram that the father was an airline pilot, but this could not be independently verified.
ShinyHunters reportedly gained access to the FBI's recruitment site and other victims by exploiting CVE-2026-35273, a flaw in Oracle's PeopleSoft platform. Oracle quickly issued a fix for the flaw, which the group had been exploiting as a zero-day since June. On 25 September, Mandiant and the Google Threat Intelligence Group confirmed that the group had exploited the flaw en masse to steal data from dozens of systems across sectors including higher education, healthcare and government. Reuters reported on 5 October that the FBI had removed a contractor at Accenture over the failure to patch the hacked recruitment site.

Jordanian hacker 'Rey' detained as ShinyHunters targets former Boeing unit
A young man in Amman, Jordan, has been detained on suspicion of running ShinyHunters, a group that steals data and blackmails its victims, and is reportedly cooperating with the FBI to identify other members. According to KrebsOnSecurity, the suspect, who goes by the hacker handle "Rey", was picked up while ShinyHunters was attempting to extort a business unit that Boeing had recently sold off. Boeing manufactures the fleet flown by Royal Jordanian Airlines, where Rey's father works.
On 3 October, Reuters, citing three unnamed sources, named the suspected ShinyHunters member detained by Jordanian authorities in Amman and working with the FBI as Saif Al-din Khader. KrebsOnSecurity had already identified Rey as Khader in a November 2025 profile, in which the young man admitted to working with more than one ransomware group. Immediately after Dutch police detained Pepijn van der Stap, a 24-year-old convicted cybercriminal, on the evening of 15 September, Rey seized control of the ShinyHunters brand and publicly claimed to have stolen highly sensitive data from the FBI and to be blackmailing the ransomware group Cl0p.
As our 28 September report noted, ShinyHunters gained access to the FBI's site and other victims by exploiting a vulnerability (CVE-2026-35273) in PeopleSoft, Oracle's software-as-a-service platform, which companies widely use for recruitment, human resources, benefits and payroll management. Oracle swiftly issued a fix for the flaw, which ShinyHunters had been exploiting as a zero-day since June, while Mandiant published web application firewall rules for organisations unable to apply the update quickly.
Two sources familiar with the investigation said that a navigation and digital aviation unit Boeing had recently divested was among the victims ShinyHunters was trying to blackmail when Jordanian authorities caught Rey. Not only did Boeing acknowledge the extortion attempts, but it also said they concerned data stolen from Jeppesen ForeFlight, a subsidiary it sold to the private equity firm Thoma Bravo for $10.55 billion in November 2025. For its part, Jeppesen ForeFlight said in writing that, based on its investigation and proactive security posture, there had been no impact on its operations or products.
Rey's alleged role is striking because there is strong evidence that his father works for Royal Jordanian Airlines, which the Jordanian government mostly controls and which operates its long-range fleet with Boeing-built passenger jets. Rey claimed on Telegram in early 2025 that his father was an airline pilot, though this could not be independently verified.
Experts say, however, that those operating behind the ShinyHunters name lately are not the core members of the group's early days, French nationals most of whom had previously been arrested, even jailed, for cybercrime. ShinyHunters has become a kind of franchise: picture the Dread Pirate Roberts of the 1980s cult film "The Princess Bride", except that succession by death has given way to succession by arrest, and several Robertses may operate at once.
